Every oil decommissioning job is now the same scope of work: remove the tank, swap the water heater to electric. There is no longer a “drain only” path.

What’s included

  • Full oil tank removal — the tank leaves the premises, oil is cut off
  • Electric water heater swap — the homeowner’s existing water heater is consultantlaced with a new electric one, regardless of how their water is currently heated

For exact homeowner-facing pricing, use the in-app pricing calculator. The two line items above are what get quoted; the calculator handles rebate and financing math on top.

Water heater sizing

Two electric tank sizes are available — 50 gallon or 70 gallon. The plumber confirms the right size at the site survey based on the home’s hot water demand. Consultants don’t need to commit to a size on the call; just include “electric water heater” in the order.

Why this changed

Bienestar’s plumbing partner no longer drains oil tanks — only full removal. Combined with the fact that any oil-removed home loses its existing hot water source, the electric water heater swap is now bundled into every oil decom by default. One rule, no edge cases.

What the order needs

  • Standard decommissioning permits: electrical + mechanical + plumbing (see Permits)
  • Oil tank removal
  • Electric water heater (50 or 70 gal — plumber sizes at survey)
  • Equipment to cover full-home BTU
